Take Part In:
28th October: Parkrun > Bakery > Brewery
Mile End Park, London, E3 4RR
If, like us, you love a run but you love food and drink even more, then this wholesome-meets-hedonism event might just be the one for you. Starting with the Mile End Park Run, you’ll embark on a ten-mile run, but don’t be put off by the distance – this is a social run, and the stops en route include Pophams Bakery in Hackney, where you’ll be able to stock up on intriguing pastries, and Old Street Brewery Hackney Wick, where you’ll finish up with a restorative beer. This is social running at its best.

This unassuming spot, right on the canal in Haggerston, is something of an east London institution. It closes during the winter months and with good reason, as its only seats are al fresco. When it opens its shutters each year, it’s a sign that brighter days are ahead. There’s no booking here so we recommend either rocking up early, or arriving with the expectation of a little queue. The food is simple and seasonal, and yet unfailingly tasty: think the freshest of tomatoes on toast or hearty pies when the weather cools.
dealchecker Tip: The last day of service this year is Sunday 5th November.

We’re here to tell you that we’re officially entering pub season. It’s the time when you want to curl up beside a fire with a beverage in hand. East London is awash with excellent pubs but The Prince Arthur tucked away on a side street behind London Fields is one of our favourites. It has those dim dingy interiors that make proper pubs almost romantic, comfortable seating and bar stools nestled around candlelit tables. However, what sets The Prince Arthur apart is its drinks menu—as well as the usual pints and wines, there’s a healthy cocktail list too. We’ve enjoyed many a negroni here!
