With long, light evenings and the promise of sunshine, there’s a lot to look forward to in June. Here, we’ve rounded up the celebrations which make the most of that summer spirit.

Sónar – Barcelona

Whilst here in the UK, Glastonbury is famed for its seemingly endless mud, Barcelona’s own offering, Sónar, tends to bask in glorious sunshine. The festival which runs from the 15th – 17th June this year, will see musicians from across the globe perform in beach side surrounds during the day. At night, artists such as Eric Prydz and Moderat host raucous parties throughout the cities many music venues.

Great Wisconsin Cheese Festival – USA

Cheese lovers might want to consider a holiday to the US state of Wisconsin which has its very own cheese month, June. To mark the start of this dairy-loving month, there is a three-day long festival running from the 2nd – 4th June. The festival includes a Big Cheese Parade replete with cheese-themed floats, live music performances and lots and lots of free cheese tasting.

Wild Life – Brighton

A festival curated by Rudimental and Disclosure is bound to draw in a hip crowd, and this year’s line up is about as cool as it gets. There are performances from the achingly chic Fatima Yamaha, alongside more established acts like FatBoy Slim and Gorgon City. One thing that is for sure is that you’ll be up and dancing at this Brighton celebration!

El Colacho – Spain

El Colacho is one of the most bizarre festivals we have ever encountered. Every year, a man dressed as the devil leaps across a mattress lined with the babies which have been born in the past year. The celebration, which takes place on the 18th June this year is believed to drive sin from the town, and set the path between good and evil for the children who participate.
