What’s Hot This October?

October brings with it crisp autumn leaves, cooler weather to snuggle under a blanket in and lots of events to take our minds off the darker nights and shorter days. Here, we have rounded up some of the celebrations which help to make October one of our favourite months!

The Village Halloween Parade – New York

This year, the Halloween Parade in New York’s Village celebrates its 43rd birthday and with much aplomb. Every year, thousands of New Yorkers in elaborate fancy dress costumes join with dancers, artists and musicians to march down 6th Avenue in a wonderfully communal celebration of Halloween!

Elsewhere in New York, dogs get to have their spooky fun too with the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade, where the best dressed pooches are awarded cash prizes. As you can imagine, some of the costumes are pretty darn cute!

Dirtybird Campout – California

Dirtybird Campout takes its visitors back to a bygone era where boy scouts ruled supreme, and marshmallows around the camp fire with surreptitious swigs of booze were the pinnacle of excitement. Nowadays, the alcohol flows more freely and there are DJs spinning tunes to keep you going until the early morning!

The festival takes place between the 7th and 10th October and there are shuttle buses running from Los Angeles Airport.

Diwali – London

The religious festival of Diwali is celebrated across the globe, but London’s Trafalgar Square offering (on the 30th October) is one of Europe’s biggest. There will be dancing, music and performances for spectators to take part in alongside a series of street food vendors offering delicious vegetarian fare to visitors.

Signal Festival – Prague

Prague is a great destination for an Autumn getaway, its riverbanks become lined with golden-coloured leaves and the famous Charles Bridge is bathed in a soft glow. The SIGNAL festival, which sees the city’s most famous monuments set alight with video projections and multi-coloured lighting, takes place between the 13th and 16th October making the city even more charming.
