This is a museum that houses tons of weapons and armor from ancient times. They also have animals that were part of the military structure historically and they do shows like jousting which was our favorite. It is a fascinating look into the days of knights and castles.

dealchecker's guide to Leeds

Leeds sits at the crossroads of England's main north-south and east-west motorways, so wherever you're travelling in the UK, it's a useful place to book car hire. Leeds is a centre of commerce, finance and industry so it attracts many business visitors. However it's also the second greenest city in Europe and holds many attractions for tourists.

What to see
Leeds has two major parks, the 1000 acre Temple Newsam and Roundhay which boasts two lakes. It's also got a great variety of museums, including two that are internationally renowned: the Royal Armouries and the Thackray Museum of Medicine. You'll also find attractive historic homes to visit, many theatres and if you time it right you'll be able to catch an international sporting event.

Leeds is also shopping heaven, with more than 4.3 million square feet of retail space. The shopping centres are set in stunning architectural buildings such as the Victoria Quarter and Corn Exchange. And when the night comes, Leeds hots up, with a great variety of restaurants, bars and clubs to keep you entertained until the small hours.

Day trips
Now that you've organised Leeds car rental, get behind the wheel with a day trip. Western Flatts Park is 4km drive away. It's a quiet spot with a walled rose garden and space to play tennis, bowls and football. Cherry blossoms are in full bloom in spring and if you're lucky you can pick cherries in July. If you walk on to Cabbage Hill you'll get one of the best views over Leeds.

You could also visit the Yorkshire Dales, a large National Park with lots of leisure activities to keep you busy.
