LA is actually just the downtown area, but other neighbourhoods are often included when we talk about LA, these are places like Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Malibu, Santa Monica and San Fernando Valley and within these you'll find the famous streets of Sunset Boulevard, Melrose Avenue, Rodeo Drive and Mulholland Drive. So once you've organised your Los Angeles car hire put on your sunglasses and cruise down some of these landmark streets - you'll feel like a local in no time. Hiring a car lets you see all these famous areas even if you can't afford to book a hotel there.
Most of the tourist hot spots in Los Angeles aren't accessible by public transport and taxis need to be pre-ordered, so hiring a car is the best option. Driving in LA can be a little daunting though, especially if you're used to driving on the left-hand side of the road. Freeways can be six or seven lanes wide and drivers are allowed to pass people in any lane; parking can be difficult too. The best way around it is to plan your route on a street map first and, if possible, avoid driving at peak time.
