Bishkek is the largest city and capital of Kyrgyzstan, a landlocked, mountainous Turkic state in Central Asia. Kyrgyzstan has a northern border with Kazakhstan, China to its east, Tajikistan to its south-west and Uzbekistan to its west. As an international tourism centre, Bishkek has many tourist attractions. Oak Park is popular, with scampering, playful squirrels and dense trees providing shade in the summer. With sculptures of various materials, the park conveys the impression of an open-air sculptural museum. Adjoining is Erkindik Boulevard, with works by local artists and craftsmen. The nearby Ala-Too Square is home to Government House, with annual festivals and parades. The Eastern Bazaar is impressive, with a selection of worldwide goods for sale. With historical monuments, modern architecture and excellent Bishkek hotels, it is little wonder that many tourists are anxious to find cheap Bishkek flights.
