There are plenty of direct cheap flights to Delhi from the UK, particularly from London but also plenty of indirect flights from regional centres such as Manchester, Belfast, Birmingham and Glasgow. The route is operated by a number of scheduled airlines such as British Airways, Air India and Thai Airways with a direct flight to Delhi taking about 11 hours from the UK.
As with most Indian destinations the decision over when to take a Delhi flight depends heavily on the weather. Extremes of heat, humidity and rainfall can all have a bearing on the best time of year to look for your flights. Delhi suffers one of the most extreme climates in India with summer temperatures regularly topping 45 degrees centigrade. The highs of June and July are followed by the monsoon when the temperature drops only a little and the humidity becomes almost unbearable, which rules out August and September. The summer months are certainly not the ideal time to travel. The best times to find chaep flights to Delhi are the 'shoulder' seasons either side of summer which are far more pleasant, so if you want the best of the weather try March, April or October which, coincidentally, are times when it is possible to find a relatively cheap flight to Delhi. The winter months can bring very cold temperatures with regular thick fog and a bitter cold coming off the Himalaya to the north so even though you can certainly find cheap flights to Delhi at this time it's not the most comfortable time of year to go. It's easy to find cheap car hire in Delhi, but most visitors use public transport or private transfers. Alternatively, you could search for package holidays to India and have everything organised for you.
For many the reason for finding cheap flights to Delhi is to use the city as a springboard to the Taj Mahal, the pink city of Jaipur or the mountains of the north. Delhi does however have so much to explore that it would take weeks to cover it all. If you're brave enough and adventurous enough to stick around don't miss the Red Fort, a former Emperor's palace dating back to 1648 which is a huge monument to India's grand past. Try taking an organised walking tour to catch some of the more important of the hundreds of other interesting sights or have your senses assaulted in one of the many bazaars and haggle for some authentic Indian goods (Connaught Place is a great place to start for shopping). There really is so much to see in this incredible city.
