Most people think of Geneva as the home of major world organisations such as the United Nations, Red Cross and World Health Organization (WHO). However it has a lot to offer a tourist. Geneva is divided into the old and new city by the Rhone river, which flows from Lake Geneva. Most sights are within easy walking distance and the public transport system is very reliable, so getting around won't break the bank.
When to go
Geneva is a popular destination all year round. In the winter it is popular with winter sports enthusiast who pass through on the way to ski resorts in the Alps. In the summer the alpine resorts are a little quieter but Geneva is still popular with hikers who come to walk amongst the breathtaking mountain scenery. It is certainly easier to find a cheap flight to Geneva during the early and late summer months.The same is true for hotels, however if you use our hotel search we should be able to find you a cheap Geneva hotel no matter what time of year it is.
What to do
Geneva offers great shopping areas and has a rich artistic and cultural movement and is packed with museums. Or head for one of the many parks. During the summer, you can watch a free concert in one of the theatres or hit the town for a night out.
