Vera Playa
posted by theo I was lucky enough to be within walking distance of this lovely long beach on my last holiday to Almeria. The beach is ridiculously long so you can always find somewhere quiet if you want it, but there are bars and hangouts too if you fancy some company or mixing with other people. Parque Nicolas Salmeron
posted by ycoldsmith This long park is a great place to grab some shade and enjoy the breeze off the water, and makes a great change from the beach for somewhere to chil out and watch the world go by. Admittedly, my friends and I got some odd looks for sunbathing there but we enjoyed it! Cabo del Gata
posted by cburney Most Almeria beaches have been turned into tourist resorts but Cabo del Gata is Almeria's great wilderness area- excluding Fort Bravo which is a man made wilderness! There are some amazing rock formations jutting out of the sea and some of the beaches are completely desserted. Mojacar
posted by xlaborde A lovely resort 90kms from the province capital of Almeria. If you choose to stay here you must try the local delicacies such as Gurullos (dough balls in broth) and Gachas (vetch flour, garlic, chorizo and other meats). It's a great resort if you want a value for money holiday to Spain. Shopping
posted by pberry The spanish come from miles around to shop in Almeria and it's not hard to see why. There are so many excellent shops and outdoor markets I had to buy and extra suitcase to take everything home! |
