It's one of the largest cities in Poland, and as you might expect there's no shortage of places to explore and enjoy during a holiday in Krakow.
When it comes to picking the right time to fly to Krakow, it all depends on how well you can cope with crowds! The peak tourist season is in the summer months, which is undeniably a great time for seeing the city in all its glory, but it can get very busy and accommodation should be booked well in advance. However, you could always opt to come in spring and early autumn instead, when the weather will still be fine (and in fact less humid) and the streets less crammed. If you decide to come to Krakow in winter, you can also experience one of the very best Christmas markets in Poland.
Visiting Krakow is a highlight of any holiday in Poland, especially when you consider the picturesque Old Town area. The highlight here is undeniably Wawel Castle, one of the country's greatest landmarks. The Jewish quarter of Kazimierz is great for culture vultures, with its charming winding streets, many Jewish museums and ornate old synagogues. You should also be sure to walk the Royal Way, a route that takes you through the bustle of the city and includes landmarks such as St Florian's Gate and the main thoroughfare of Florianska Street. The Main Square, or Rynek G?ówny, is another must-see during a holiday in Krakow.
