Menorca is very much the quieter relation in the Balearic Islands. It's not as brash as Ibiza and Majorca however it boasts as many beaches as the two put together and is a sun holiday makers paradise.
How to get thereLike much of the popular Mediterranean this Balearic gem is well served from the UK by package and independent holidays. Menorca can be found in virtually every major tour operator's brochure and now, by virtue of the low cost flights revolution and the ease with which one can book a hotel independently, it really should be pretty simple to find a cheap holiday in Menorca throughout much of the year. If you are in search of a package holiday to Menorca try Thomson, First Choice, Thomas Cook or MyTravel for a wide choice of options from London and many regional airports such as Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle and Belfast. Alternatively check out Easyjet or British Airways for cheap flights to Menorca, Menorca's capital, and try our hotel search for cheap hotels. Whichever way you choose to travel on your holidays, Menorca shouldn't prove tricky to get to from the UK.
When to go
If you're lucky enough to be able to avoid the school holidays then the best time for a cheap holiday in Menorca is in the months either side of summer, particularly May, June, September and October. The peak months of July and August can be very hot and the prices can be sky high so they may be best avoided. If you don't care about the sunshine and you're just after super cheap holidays in Menorca then you could travel in March, April or November but beware the Mediterranean winter which can be damp and not particularly warm.
What to do
With over 100 beaches there are no prizes for guessing why most people choose a holiday to Menorca. Hidden coves and beaches abound but if you want to check out some of the prettiest try Cala en Turqueta and Cala Galdana in the south of the island. Aside from sunbathing and swimming in the clear waters there aren't a huge amount of 'don't miss' items on your holiday to Menorca. However, Mahon the capital does have some fascinating historical remnants of the many battles to control this once strategically important island. The city is well worth exploring and the large harbour offers a very attractive stroll. Hiring a car might be a good way for you to visit these areas while staying in a resort.
If this beautiful island sounds like the place for you then look no further than dealchecker. We'll help you find a cheap holiday in Menorca in no time.
