Part of Spain's Balearic islands, Ibiza is famous as a clubbing mecca. A small island, it is fairly easy to drive around and there is beautiful scenery to inspire the modern visitor in the same way it inspired the hippies of the flower power generation. Where to stay Increasingly popular with celebs, there are fabulous 5-star luxury hotels in Ibiza like El Corsario in the Old Town and Pike's just outside San Antonio. San Antonio is the place for cheap hotels in Ibiza but they can be hard to book in peak season. Club Calador makes a good mid choice of Ibiza hotels which receives good reviews. What to do When to go We can also help you find great deals on Ibiza flights, car hire in Ibiza and Ibiza holidays.
The island is well developed, so there is a good selection of Ibiza hotels to choose from. Inland is mostly covered with local farms and orchards. San Antonio, the clubbing haven, is on the west coast and is the best place to find a cheap hotel in Ibiza. Away from here you'll find picturesque old towns, rural communities, and the capital Eivissa.
The hippy influence is still strong and many artists have been drawn to the island and have settled down. Therefore you will find a good selection of arts and crafts as well as an abundance of small markets selling fresh produce and all manner of goods. Ibiza is a paradise for food lovers. The restaurants are superb with seafood being the most popular item on most menus. The more touristy towns will have British bars and restaurants serving popular fare like burgers but if you want to be a little more adventurous and imaginative the local fare is a clear winner. However restaurants outside the tourist centres can tend to be a little expensive. Of course clubbing is the other main attraction.
The island is absolutely packed from May to September and it is usually very hard to find a cheap hotel in Ibiza during this time as this when the weather is at its hottest. Winter runs from October to April and although the weather is quite good during the first and latter parts of this time most of the main resorts shut down. However this is often the best time to get a good deal on Ibiza accommodation, as quite a few hotels stay open all year round and are very welcoming to visitors - but remember that it can get a bit chilly in mid winter!
