 Kayak Tour

My mates and I went out on a kayak tour on our first day in Ibiza, complete with pirate treasure hunt! It was a really cool way to see some of the island before the holiday devolved into hangover central.

Beautiful old cathedral with a lovely interior including some very pretty relics. Definitely worth seeing.

A few years ago I wouldn't have contemplated staying anywhere not right near the strip, but this little village offers the best of both worlds. A lovely uncrowded beach (by the town's standards anyway) and only a 15 min walk along the promenade to where all the action is.

If you only do one road trip on your holiday then make it here. Idyllic location and if you wait until sunset they are stunning here.

Had only ever been to the Town before, but we ended up here last time we went to Ibiza, and it was amazing. The beach is soooo huuuuuuuge and there are so many awesome places for a night out you won't believe it. Since the beach is so long too it's real easy to escape the partying and noise for a da ... more

dealchecker's guide to Ibiza

Part of Spain's Balearic islands, Ibiza is famous as a clubbing mecca. A small island, it is fairly easy to drive around and there is beautiful scenery to inspire the modern visitor in the same way it inspired the hippies of the flower power generation.

There are many airlines flying from the UK to Ibiza, especially during the busy holiday periods, making it very easy to find cheap Ibiza flights.

Where to stay
The island is well developed, so there is a good selection of Ibiza hotels to choose from. Inland is mostly covered with local farms and orchards. San Antonio, the clubbing haven, is on the west coast and is the best place to find a cheap hotel in Ibiza. Away from here you'll find picturesque old towns, rural communities, and the capital Eivissa.

Increasingly popular with celebs, there are fabulous 5-star luxury hotels in Ibiza like El Corsario in the Old Town and Pike's just outside San Antonio. San Antonio is the place for cheap hotels in Ibiza but they can be hard to book in peak season. Club Calador makes a good mid choice of Ibiza hotels which receives good reviews.

If you prefer to book a deal with travel and accommodation combined then dealchecker can help you to find cheap Ibiza holidays at prices that will be hard to beat.

What to do
The hippy influence is still strong and many artists have been drawn to the island and have settled down. Therefore you will find a good selection of arts and crafts as well as an abundance of small markets selling fresh produce and all manner of goods. Ibiza is a paradise for food lovers. The restaurants are superb with seafood being the most popular item on most menus. The more touristy towns will have British bars and restaurants serving popular fare like burgers but if you want to be a little more adventurous and imaginative the local fare is a clear winner. However restaurants outside the tourist centres can tend to be a little expensive. Of course clubbing is the other main attraction.

Ibiza is a great island to explore and there is no better way than to hire a car and get out and about.

When to go
The island is absolutely packed from May to September and it is usually very hard to find a cheap hotel in Ibiza during this time as this when the weather is at its hottest. Winter runs from October to April and although the weather is quite good during the first and latter parts of this time most of the main resorts shut down. However this is often the best time to get a good deal on Ibiza accommodation, as quite a few hotels stay open all year round and are very welcoming to visitors - but remember that it can get a bit chilly in mid winter!
