Port Sudan is the capital of Sudan, and the city lies on the bank on the Red Sea. It's an important port, particularly for Muslims making the Hajj to Mecca as the ferry runs across to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia from here. When to visit Port Sudan

It's probably best to avoid the height of summer as temperatures can reach well over 40°C in the very dry climate. Winters are still hot but temperatures are more manageable, ideal for an escape from the UK as the nights get dark and cold sets in. Make sure you avoid November as this is the "rainy season", although by no means does it rain a lot! The underwater gardens are fantastic all year round though so you're sure to have an enjoyable dive or two whenever you take your holiday in Port Sudan.
