For those who lust after star-studded holidays we’ve looked up some of the best celebrity owned hotels around the world. Just a quick disclaimer; don’t go expecting Robert DeNiro himself to be dishing up your breakfast. What you’ll get instead is a unique hotel, with an atmosphere, style and personality all developed by their famous owners. It can make a refreshing change in a world where hotel chains deliver carbon copy experiences across the globe.

Villa Angela, Taormina, Sicily

Villa Angela

The villa’s views out to the Ionian Sea and inland over to Mount Etna are simply breathtaking – and every room has a panoramic terrace to make the most of them. Other reasons to stay include the swimming pool, rooftop bar terrace and stylish furnishings – many made by local craftsmen. It’s also owned by Simple Minds’ front man Jim Kerr – he built the villa to reflect the warmth and passion of the Sicilian people after he fell in love with the island whilst on tour there in 1995.

The Clarence, Dublin

The Clarence

Owned by Bono and The Edge of U2, this boutique hotel is located right in the centre of Dublin – perfect for exploring the delights of Dublin. Apparently its famous owners have been known to pop in for a drink at the hotel’s Octagon bar when they’re in town. If they’re not around you can always eye up the bar’s original art deco features and striking octagon dome instead.

Rival

Uniquely designed and located in a vibrant area of Stockholm, this hotel was created by ex-Abba singer Benny Andersson. This was Stockholm’s first boutique hotel when it opened. We love its individual style – think lots of striking prints, funky lighting and carefully selected background music.

And the lovely gardens do contain tennis courts. We checked.
