 Visiting the Caribbean is something on many people’s bucket lists due to its magnificent beaches and dreamy surroundings. While it’s tempting to simply fly and flop in an all inclusive resort, there are numerous cultural and historical excursions worth visiting in this archipelago.

1. Antigua 

As well as being an immensely popular holiday destination for families, Antigua also makes for a memorable wedding or honeymoon destination. From the flour-soft sands to the turquoise waters, Antigua is truly a paradise. This destination is famous for its picturesque surroundings and white-sand beaches, ideal for those in search of a relaxing and luxurious getaway.

2. St Lucia

The scenic island of St Lucia features some incredible viewpoints, the most famous of which are the Pitons. St Lucia is also home to the world’s only drive-in volcano: La Soufriere is an active volcano that last erupted in 2020. These excursions make St Lucia a popular travel destination for those who like to get active, but there are also numerous white-sand beaches that surround the island – making it a fabulous destination for those who wish to unwind.

3. Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is known for its mesmerising scenery and beautiful beaches, but this country also has a rich culture. Home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Cathedral of Santa María la Menor, the island is a hotspot for those searching for a luxurious vacation while discovering some of its historical significance. Some of the top historical spots in the Dominican Republic include Columbus Park and the Mediterranean village of Altos de Chavón.

4.  Turks and Caicos 

Between its balmy climate and aquamarine waters, Turks and Caicos is a beloved destination within the Caribbean. It’s a popular tourist destination throughout the year due to its scorching weather – temperatures typically range from 23° to 32° even in the colder months. When you’re not luxuriating on one of the powder-soft beaches, there are a number of intriguing activities and excursions to embark on in the country, like visiting Cockburn Town or snorkelling with turtles at Smith’s Reef or Bight Reef.

5. Jamaica 

There are myriad dreamy waterfalls and natural pools of water located in Jamaica, one of the most popular being Dunn’s River Falls and Park. The Bob Marley Museum is another well-loved attraction on the island, where you can explore the legend’s home and recording studio. Jamaica is often considered a fly-and-flop destination, but it can make for a brilliant stop off within an island-hopping adventure.
