The Finest Autumn Destinations

Summer is coming to a close but that needn’t mean that the next few months are all doom and gloom. We’ve rounded up some destinations where you can enjoy the crunch of leaves underfoot, enjoy a romantic stroll or even soak up a little last-minute sun.

New York

‘Don’t you love New York in the fall?’, You’ve Got Mail’s Joe Fox famously asked and here at dealchecker, we truly do. There’s something charming about New York when Central Park is adorned with a carpet of rust-coloured leaves and the humidity of the summer has dissipated. To enjoy autumn in the city that never sleeps take a stroll along the High Line, ride a bike along the Hudson or snuggle up with a blanket at one of the city’s many rooftop bars.

Prague

The city of Prague is undeniably romantic, with stunning vistas from its bridges, an ancient castle and architecture to rival Paris’s. The weather getting cooler just gives you even more of an excuse to steal a hug from your other half. On top of this, Prague becomes awash with music in the autumn: the Prague Autumn International Music Festival runs from the 12th September until October 1st bringing with it orchestras, operas and choirs whilst the jazz scene has its moment in October during the AghaRTA Prague Jazz Festival. If the sound of guitar strings whispering out over cobbled streets doesn’t appeal to you, we don’t know what will!

Bruges

Bruges, with its chocolate-box houses, cobbled streets and scenic waterways, is popular all year round. However, autumn escapes the hordes that summer brings, giving you the chance to sample some of the finest Belgium chocolates or sip a beer without fear of being elbowed by lots of others attempting to do the very same thing. We recommend celebrating the lack of crowds with a trip to the Groeningemuseum where you can feast your eyes on some incredible Flemish Primitive and Renaissance pieces of artwork.

Seville

Seville in the south of Spain boasts highs of 26°C in October which seems practically tropical once British autumn has set in. To make the most out of the sunshine, why not take a stroll in the gardens in the royal palace, Alcázar of Seville or wander around the ponds in the Maria Luisa park.

Happy holiday hunting from the dealchecker team!
