Go To:

The Garden at 120

120 Fenchurch St, London EC3M 5BA

Entry: Free

We’re going to put it out there, we think the Sky Garden is a little overrated. On a recent visit there we found massive queues (despite the ticketing system) and a bit of a forlorn atmosphere once inside. If you’re still lusting after those dreamy city views without a price tag, we recommend instead heading over to the Garden at 120. Located in a shiny office block, you’ll exit the lift to find swaying lavender, carefully-maintained topiary and a sense of serenity.

Eat At:

The Pie Hole

Rosewood London, 252 High Holborn, London WC1V 7EN

Holborn Dining Room is, undoubtedly, the best place to eat pie in London. However, eating in comes with quite the price tag. Sometimes, it’s well worth the splurge but we also are very happy to gobble down our pies in less salubrious surrounds. That’s where The Pie Hole steps in. You can order the very same pies that the Holborn Dining Room serves up, but to take away, and for around half the price. We recommend the dauphinoise potato pie with comté & caramelised onion for a hearty meal that feels like a hug.

NB: You have to order your pie 48 hours before collection, and the Pie Hole is only open between Tuesday and Thursday each week.

Drink In:

The Blind Pig

Social Eating House, 58 Poland St, London W1F 7NR

Looking for a dimly-lit romantic little bar in Soho? The Blind Pig, situated above the highly-acclaimed Social Eating House, is the spot that you’re looking for. You’ll find leather-bound furniture, a copper-clad bar, and an ambience that manages to be moody while still high end. The cocktail list is inventive and changes often. Currently, a tequila based cocktail laced with white chocolate, rhubarb and lime steals the show, but there are also twists on the negroni and the Aperol spritz that are well worth a try.
