British summer tends to bring with it long days with clear blue skies, and also, days washed out by rain. Here, we’ve rounded up the festivals where there’s something you can rely on: lots and lots of fun!

Wimbledon 2017 – London

The Wimbledon tennis championships is as much of a British institution as tea and scones, and every year sees the nation become enthralled in a sport that is often otherwise ignored. This year’s event takes place between the 3rd July and 16th July and sees Andy Murray vying to maintain his title. Whether you’ve managed to bag yourself tickets or you’ll be watching at one of the city’s many outdoors screenings, we recommend taking Pimms, strawberries and cream for a quintessentially British day out.

Soundwave Festival – Croatia

Situated on Croatia’s Dalmation coastline, Soundwave Festival boasts a gorgeous beachside location. This chilled music festival sits in a pretty bay in the town of Tisno and runs from the 27th – 31st July. Festival goers can spend their time flitting between listening to live music from artists such as Laura Mvula and Gilles Peterson and swimming in crystal clear seas. Once the sun goes down, after parties take place on large sailing boats creating an atmosphere that feels both decadent and slightly surreal.

Cheyenne Frontier Days – USA

The world’s biggest outdoor rodeo takes place in Cheyenne, Wyoming each year and transforms the town in the process. There are rodeo competitions with professional riders hoping to win serious cash prizes, trick riding shows and lots of dancing! When it comes to food you’ll be spoilt for choice, there is a huge free breakfast each year where festival goers can expect to eat their body weight in pancakes, flapjacks, ham and much, much more.

Located in the heart of Transylvania, the Electric Castle music festival sits in the shadow of the Bánffy Castle. The area is famed for the Dracula tale but don’t let that dissuade you. Electric Castle offers cheap tickets, cheap food and even cheaper drinks alongside music from some of the hottest artists on the planet. This year’s offering takes place between 12th – 16th July and sees acts such as deadmau5, alt-J and Moderat perform.
