Now that summer is coming to an end and the temperature is beginning  to drop, many of us are ready to get cosy and begin the transition into winter. There are a variety of warm and delicious recipes from around the globe that can be used to spice up your meals this winter.

Beef Stroganoff – Russia

Nothing feels more winter appropriate than a nice warm stew. This authentic Russian dish combines tender beef and sautéed mushroom and onions in a creamy sauce to produce a simple and flavourful meal. Season to your taste and serve with pasta, bread, or mashed potatoes, or enjoy it on its own.

Maafe – West Africa

Commonly referred to as peanut stew, this West African dish blends sweet potato, ginger, peanuts, garlic and onion amongst other ingredients to create a sweet, creamy, and aromatic one-pot meal. Whilst maafe is commonly served as is, we recommend trying it with fufu (a doughy side dish similar to dumplings!) for an authentic eating experience.

Bulgogi – Korea

Although traditionally Korean, bulgogi is a course loved by many around the world. Combining toasted sesame seeds, minced garlic, brown sugar, honey, soy sauce, and pear purée, this marinated beef dish is sure to leave you wanting more. Serve on a bed of rice and garnish with spring onions and sesame seeds for a delicious and unique dinner.

Kaddu Ka Bharta/ Pumpkin Bharta – India

Known by many as pumpkin curry, Kaddu Ka Bharta is a warming vegetable based dish that can be enjoyed by everyone. This curry blends pieces of pumpkin, chilli, ginger, and onion to create an easy and spectacular meal. Despite often being served with yoghurt or naan bread, Kaddu Ka Bharta can easily be made vegan and gluten free.

Laska – South East Asia
