Claridge’s Hotel, London
Although inns have been around since Jesus was born, hotels as we know them today are only just over 200 years old, and the UK is home to some of the oldest in existence. One of the first to open was Claridge’s in London, built in 1856. The epitome of luxury and often the favoured hotel of the rich and famous, Claridge’s is one of Britain’s poster girl hotels. Though the guest rooms have been modernised and updated over the years, the dedication to luxury has remained much the same. Many of the original features in the bars, foyer and ballrooms remain intact, and if you do fancy a taste of ye olde England you can enjoy a spot of afternoon tea, which is almost as old as the hotel itself.
