If there are two things that we almost certainly all have in common they are: enjoying a lovely view and doing our… ‘business’. So why not combine the two and make your daily defecation that little bit more enjoyable? Let’s not beat around the bush, here are our favourite places where you can poo with a view.
The Shard, London
Of course, the first place that comes to mind is the closest to home and an icon of London’s skyline, The Shard. This porcelain throne comes complete with all the features you would need for a sky-high poo. From the loo you will be able to see the Cheese Grater, the Gherkin and 20 Fenchurch Street – home to London’s highest public garden. Let’s just hope none of the tourists in the Sky Garden have 20/20 vision or a superzoom camera lens ready to catch you in the act!

The Maldives
Just like a slice of good Victoria sponge cake, not many people would turn their nose up at a holiday in the Maldives. But from booking the break to landing in your seaplane, the thought of dropping a log in this tropical paradise probably hadn’t even crossed your mind. Well this is what you can expect! A peaceful water closet with a view to rival all others, and an organic playlist of Indian Ocean sounds to help nature on its way. Better watch out though – we have no idea how this picture was snapped!

Viangchan, Laos
Not only is this toilet the most brightly coloured of our bunch, but it also has one of the best views. Situated somewhere deep in Viangchan, Laos, this rose-coloured number isn’t one to be sniffed at, if you’ll pardon the pun. Pretty in pink, this loo really is a once in a lifetime spot to relieve yourself… of your thoughts, of course.

North Cascades National Park, Washington State
Do we like the look of this khazi? Does a bear sh*t in the woods? You betcha! And you can too. But with this wooden latrine in Washington State, there will be no squatting behind a tree trunk or attempting to avoid the prying eyes of other hikers. Just sit down, relax and take a load off, all while enjoying fabulous views of mountain peaks through a clearing of fir trees. It’s the way nature intended it, after all.

Casablanca, Morocco
No, this is not an excerpt from a moody yet chic feature from an interiors magazine. This is a real-life porcelain throne overlooking the rugged coastline of Casablanca, in a restaurant called Le Cabestan. But why would you want to do your business here? First of all, the interiors are sleek, opulent and complement the stunning surroundings. Next, you have a fabulous uninterrupted view. And finally, if you do fancy being interrupted, there’s a seat for a friend who can watch you ‘drop the kids off at the pool’ if you’re into that. On second thought, perhaps the chair is for you to take in the view pre- or post-poo. We imagine the latter is more likely.

Yas Island, Abu Dhabi
Why is it that just when you start getting into a movie, nature calls? Well this toilet may not be overlooking the cinema, but it does have a fabulous view of something you definitely wouldn’t want to miss a second of! You’ve paid all that money to watch the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, but just when the cars start the race, all that excitement gets too much. Fear not, this little number ensures you won’t miss a second as it boasts excellent views of the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Maybe just set up camp here – there certainly won’t be anyone blocking your view!

Seoul Tower, South Korea
We know that the capital of South Korea is as vibrant as they come, and from this thinking throne you can kill two birds with one stone – take it all in from above while going about your business. This loo offers a private viewing platform in the Seoul Tower, and helpfully provides some reading material on the expansive glass pane, which describes what’s going on down below… in the city, that is! Each cubicle has a different fact inscribed on the glass, so each time you return you’ll learn something different about Seoul.

Ice Q, Austria
Ever thought you could pee in the same place as Daniel Craig? Well if you visit Ice Q in Sölden, Austria, the likelihood is that you will. Recognise this view? Just block out the urinals and you may recognise a scene from Spectre. That’s right, 2015’s instalment of James Bond was filmed right here! If you’ve seen the film, you may remember the pivotal psychiatrist interview scene with Doctor Swann at the top of a mountain. In reality, this glass box of a building is a gourmet restaurant. So, after skiing 007-style you can start peeing 007-style, you may need a reservation though!

Hipopopapa, Japan
Under the seaaaa, under the seaaaa. Darling it’s better, down where it’s wetter, to take a weeeeee! So far, most of our world-class toilets have boasted views from great heights – this one however, is underground and will help the process along with calming sounds of the ocean. Well actually, it’s not the ocean, it’s an aquarium where real-life sea creatures can watch you do your business. What do you think… creepy or cool? Only in Japan, hey?
