If you’re after mouth-watering food, golden beaches and beautiful buildings then this is the destination for you. The small Basque city of San Sebastián is perched on the Northern Atlantic coast, near the border of France and has plenty to offer for a mini break away. Boasting 17 Michelin stars and countless narrow streets packed full of pinxchos (snack) bars, it’s impossible to go home hungry. The stunning architecture and selection of gorgeous bays make for a relaxing alternative to the jam-packed beaches of the Mediterranean.

Crowned the European Capital of Culture in 2017, Aarhus is Denmark’s second largest city. Daring Nordic cuisine, music festivals and impressive architecture are among the many reasons to visit this lively and unique city. A bike ride through Aarhus is like a bike ride through time. Take in the views of the intricate 12th century cathedral before cycling on to the world-famous modernism of the Iceberg Apartments, built in 2013. Aarhus is also home to some of Denmark’s best sandy beaches so kick back, relax and watch the world go by on a mini break in this charming city.

There are few cities more romantic or beautiful than Italy’s Verona – the setting for Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’. Verona is a historical delight with a realm of medieval palaces, ancient ruins and elegant churches to explore. Once you’ve got to grips with the history of Verona, don’t forget to grab yourself a bowl of gnocchi in one of the city’s many authentic Italian restaurants. Oh, and do leave enough time to sip on an Aperol Spritz in the city’s largest square, the picturesque Piazza Bra.
